is government restricting smokers to smoke at designated areas measures aim at helping smokers to quit smoking?

rumours is that soon places selling cigarettes cannot display openly to sell. more tougher measures soon to follow?

I heard from a friend that the legal age of smoking would be 21 soon. Reason being that many guys pick up smoking when they are in the army. He even said that those born from the year 2000 onwards would not be allowed to smoke in future because it would be banned by their legal age. Seems impossible on the second one but still, we never know.

You can see alot of ploy students smoking outside the school gates during their break time. Why no police go and check their age limits? Is it 18 year old at the moment?

I thought the existing law only prohibits selling cigarettes to under 18's? i.e. the government place the responsibility on the shops to limit the underage's access to cigarettes but not treating underage smoking as an offence.

I have never read about under 18's being punished by law for buying cigarettes so I assume smoking is also not illegal? As a parent I would like to see the underage (or at least student) being appropriate punished for smoking, maybe in the form of CWO (corrective work order) given out to litterbugs, for example.

IIRC the NEA will send a letter to the parents of an underage smoker if he or she is caught the first time round. Subsequently, the kid will be sent for "counseling" sessions.

Wait...since NEA is primarily responsible for the environment, could it be that they only catch people who smoke in places that are supposed to be non-smoking areas?
