My take, it is a 2 way responsibility, the person asking for feedback and the person giving feedback.

The person asking for feedback, what is his intention and motivation in asking for feedback. When he asked is he prepare for some negative respond or he expect all agreement, does he has a personal agenda to achieve, is he humble in nature (to me this is the most important aspect). If the person can't have some or all of these criteria, I don't see the point of that person asking for feedback. He might as well do self praise, at least you won't get hurt.

The person giving feedback, what is his intention and motivation in giving feedback. Are you giving to bring up or to tear down that person. Maybe you are jealous that the person is asking feedback for his expensive house, car or watches which at this point of time you can't afford so just give some negative feedback on it.

There will always be someone like this and it is part and parcel of an open forum, unless in time to come it became a paid forum. So my take is live and let live.

Well-thought comments that touch on both parties. Thanks WL!

True, different interpretation could lead to misunderstanding of a message. And I mean message from both ways. Likewise, wordings of a message. Thanks.

Don't say like that. That was never my intention. Such comment is not helpful in this thread, but you are more than welcome to join the discussion. Sorry.

Since thread starter say always honest in signature. I will be honest and hope thread starter don't be offended.

By starting this thread clearly shows that thread starter is not happy either because idea is rejected. There is some form of frustration as one can see clearly because this is not the first time thread starter has suggested something and got rejected. Honestly I can't help to say that thread starter still want to have a last say.

I have read some of thread starter suggestions. It clearly shows that thread starter cannot step up to the challenge. Thread starter was invited by not only administrator but also moderator to take up the challenge previously which thread starter refuse. If thread starter clearly believes that the suggestion will work why not take up the challenge and prove detractors wrong. Likewise, one member has issue a challenge to the administrator to launch the reward system. Let's wait and see if the administrator will launch it, if the administrator can launch it. Kudos to administrator. Based on the 'hotly debated' issue by thread starter suggestion and looking at another member working on it indicates that thread starter either do not want to give an answer because giving an answer is neither a win-win situation or thread starter has no clue on how to run such a program. If it is the latter, then be humble. Another member has based on the thread starter idea and work on it to propose to administrator. If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

As a NOOB, can anyone tell me if there is another watch forum worldwide that offers a DIY section for its members? Now, can anyone tell me if there is another watch forum that offers rewards for its members? I feel that this forum has her members interests. I have no experience in running a forum, therefore I cannot comment the way how the forum owners want to run it. I have seen this forum becoming better and better judging by the number of members supporting the anniversary for the past few years. It is therefore IMHO that we as members play a support role and not play indian chief & let the forum owners run the forum the way they want it.

I was waiting for you to show up, and this is exactly the sort of thing I expected you to say. Though I would prefer to hear from the boss directly.

Yes I wasn't happy. Not because my suggestions were not accepted, but the way the responses were given to me. Yes I was partly to blame, for being too eager and thus too aggressive in some of my suggestions. But I was not stupid to the extent to "want to have the last say" in a forum not owned by me. Anyway I have since learned my lesson and took a few weeks' break from the forum to reflect on myself. Some kind members text to aks me why I was so quiet.

In the recently feedback thread about rewards system, I changed my approach. I provided an idea and clearly said it is up to the owners to decide what culture and image they want the forum to have and drive the content quality towards those. Still I was being challenged to give example of a quality thread. A member, someone who registered in 2009 but only became active few weeks ago, then "build on" my suggestion and make the supposedly "non constructive" feedback a constructive one. And then I was taught another lesson - don't give feedback if you don't have a solution, else you are part of the problem.

The question of what exactly a feedback should be for this forum, motivates me to start this thread.

To quote triton's words - "take one step back"...I have taken one step back. Have you?

PS. For the record, one of my earlier suggestion to disallow MWTS on sale thread, has eventually been implemented. I didn't feel like I have won a battle, I was just happey that the garage became a little more tidy.

All you did is provide an idea, why not see it through?

If you have taken a step back you would not have started this thread. I like to see how you take a step back. You don't post in the other thread and start a thread to continue.

One idea and you want to bask in glory. tsk tsk.

DIY-watchprosite? They got watch maker to manufacture their own DIY design watch. Most DIYs in forums are link to business opportunity... As for reward, it depend on how you define reward. Some get promoted to moderator or spokesperson for the watch brand in their respective watch brand forum. Other get gifts from the watch brand forum they participate in( referring to watch forums here only). It all boil down to how they want to run the forum and get more ppl to really contribute and not just post here and there so that they can sell their watches...

See it through? How? Are you again inviting me to be the mod? Can you make the call?

This thread is positive but you view it as negative. At least the admin appreciates it. Now I am really confused...
