Agreed. Pam needs paper. Even fake Pams have full set with fake warranty card and owners' manual!

Can someone share this with me,After you send your Rolex to RCS for servicing and they will issue you another warranty card, is that good enough to replace the missing cert. ?
btw you never know what happen to the previous watch owner ( bankrupt or upgrade to another choice) if you buy from pre own shop correct ?

The warranty card received from servicing does not look like the original one that u get when buying from boutique or AD. While it does provide warranty coverage, it still does not make up the "complete" set of box and papers imho. So for collectors who are fussy, I guess it may be hard to accept.

It is anybody's guess why the previous owner is selling. How better do the pre owned shops know the actual situation. Even if they know that there is a tragic history behind the watch, would they disclose to the buyer especially since the fact may change the mind of the buyer? I think that there is always this risk and uncertainty element when buying used, that partially explains why there is a price differential between new and preowned.

Thanks for all the thoughtful answers and personal opinions. I guess it also depend on whether you are first time buyer. The more experienced will know what value there are looking for and will enjoy wearing the pieces they are buying regardless what others say.

Probably suitable for another thread, but do you really get value for money for the Rolex or Richemont etc verification? What do they really do? check case numbers? ...that could be fake too ... do they open up to look and know how to spot any fake watch parts?

I won't get it unless a steep discount because when you want to sell it, you will experience low ballers slashing unrealistic discounts.

I would prefer box and papers but for the right price I am open to buying without for certain models that are hard to come by in the resale market.
For models/brands that are commonly/easily faked I would not purchase without. Even with box/papers I would prefer to have them authenticated before purchase.

ahh.. i guess to each his own. good to know there is always intrinsic value in the popular pieces, so you really need to know your watches if you ever have thoughts of selling it, with box or without.
