  • Will you buy a watch with no box and/or papers?

Will you buy a preowned watch with no box and/or papers (warranty, proof of purchase)?
Once in a while you hear stories of misplaced boxes when moving house and once someone
    said his house burn down.

Authenticate is good enough for me. After all warranty also expired.

Yes, if it is a watch that I really like and dead set on...

What happen if the watch is from some auction of confiscated goods from bankrupts or criminals or dead people? You pantang or not?
Of course seller won't tell you... Or could be stolen ...

new or preown, watch must be accompanied by papers/certification (minimum) with box is bonus regardless if for wearing or keeping.

good point. perhaps it is for assurance that one know what he is getting into. bankrupts ok since they need the $$$, but i wouldn't want to be wearing a watch of one who died tragically if i can help it or worry that it might be stolen and you have to be answerable to some charges. I guess it is just peace of mine. It helps if you know the seller. Maybe one exception are vintages but vintages with certs are also better investments. In the end it is down to your preferences. Remember this is for preowned watches. Those buying new watches may choose to throw away cert/box but it is well known fact in the watch forums that you probably will get a better price should you decide to sell it. But if you wear and throw, then you dont need to bother. my 2 cts.

Yes I will buy if the price is right and the watch is what I long for. Of course authentication is a must, considering the market had do many fake watches. Boxes and papers is less important to me if the watch had no more guarantee.

Different folks different strokes. My personal thoughts:

I will not buy without box and papers even if priced low simply because the cost of ownership may be the same between a complete set and an incomplete set. Even if u buy at 1k or 2k lower, when u sell later on, u sell it at lower price. If u pay the price for a complete set (assuming same model same condition etc) it will fetch a better price than an incomplete set.
