Depending on the occasion and the dress code. To me, rather difficult to wear a 44MM Pam with a business shirt, so a small watch like rolex 40mm is fine.
Recently I'm leaning towards thin watches, like the AP RO ultra thin or the patek 5711, this really cool.
cheers!

I would think lug to lug length - i.e. from the top of the watch to the end - and the design of the lugs are better indicators in determining whether a watch is comfortable and thus a potential favorite.
Anything above 50mm plus size for the first and lugs that are not curving downwards are indicators that the watch might not be for me.
For now, I find 42mm to 44mm sized dials to hit the sweet spot for me.

My small wrist can only suit 36 to 42mm, but these days reckon a 42mm could be just right for nearly any occasion.

I think it depends on the colour and model, some models look ridiculous when it's 38mm, but some white faced ones look ok. Haha I have a variety of sizes.

44mm will be just nice.
Small wrist can try 42mm not that bad too.
Tried 47mm is way too big and a bit clumsy IMO
