Salesman told me 2013 production models are using diff parts than 2011 models.
Nw awaiting shipment to arrive..
Hope it's Gona be diff then 2011 models.

Bro, as some advised here, go to vagsg to checkout what current and past owners have to say about the 7 speed gearbox...i would trust their opinions and experiences more than a salesman who is trying to sell you a car.

As a current VW owner myself, my opinion is to stay away from the 7 speed gearbox or if you die die must get a VW now then at least get one with the 6 speed wet dsg...just my $0.00002...cheers

am on the FAMOUS 7 DSG for one of my rides.
Mileage is 55k and change clutch at 40k, change MU at 50K.

Lucky thing is the warning light up for MU and was still able to drive for a couple of days before sending back to change MU. Most folks I know had to be towed back to VW. I'm the kind that seldom WOT and seldom to NSHW btw.

Yes the service centres are overlaoded even with another one at Macpherson. and they work over weekends to clear the load.
Like in all situations when buying a car, take the SE words with a pinch of salt, some more salt than others. Their main KPI is to sell the car to you.

China consumer watchdog have made VW to recall over 300k of VW cars but it ain't going to happen here in SG. Sigh...think of CASE and you probably know why. So far they have extended the GB warranty to 5 years as compared to China's 10 years.

If without the gearbox issues, the 1.4 TSI is a superb engine. Nothing cmes close to it in terms of performance, cost and enjoyment.
Where do you find a twin charge engine at that range?
Of course not to mention possbility of tuning and upgrade to Stage 1 etc, but that might mean your GB zhi ba boom faster.

If you want reliabilty and predictablity, get a sushi or kimchi ride.

Cos they tested it on their autobahn which has the car in the final drive gear most of the time. They did not test it on bangkok's start stop traffic. Which has more frequent gear changes.

I've had so many free coffees at Vcs until even my wife is fed up of the down time we have been facing. Been back to Vcs more than 20 times in 3 1/2 years and these visits exclude servicing. Here are some if the issues, repairs and replacements done.

1) changed air cond unit.
2) ignition coil changed.
3) changed mu once now warded again for another mu change.
4) changed clutch 2 times.
5) clutch adaption.
6) terrible leak through rear door brought back for alignment.
7) changed headlight cos of condensation.
8) changed aux fan.
9) changed both brake bulb holders.
10) changed steering rack.
11) changed both front window winders.
