Hi Darkie,
Happens to be browsing at those rag & bone stalls in Sungei Road's last weekend. Saw the 30x loupe being sold there as well. Pretty much like the one shown in your 1st photo. Looks brand new to me and it came in a plastic casing. I think it cost about $2 - $3. However, am not sure quality wise how does it compares.
Just a little sharing.......

Hi fellas, why don't you check out local suppliers on the Yellow pages first? You don't really need more than 10x for looking at watch details (dials, movement and casings) unless you are working on them
I got my plastic loupe (Bergeon, 1 1/2cm, product no 2611) from Khatena at Rochor Centre for S$18. Essentially a 10x plastic loupe. The 1 1/2cm is the distance from the loupe to the object. What you usually use at the ADs are 3x (4cm) loupe and are quite sufficient unless you like to examine surface details very close up.
The 20x & 30x swing out loupe in the set of 3 are meant for jewellery inspections, diamonds, rubies etc etc, for detecting flaws. Do take note they are cased in metal and if you get too close and bang it against your watch case, you might get heart pangs.
You can check out Khatena here:http://www.khatena.com.sg/contacts.html
Passions at Funan Digital IT Mall also carries loupes.

I do agree that 20x and 30x is more for jewellery but also can be used for your watches la...hehe...well something you dun normally see commonly outside IMO. Close up on the diamonds on your watch? hehe
