  • Do you adjust your watch timing a few mins faster/slower?

I've seen many people who do this, but I never understood why.

Many adjust their timing +5 from current time, some even 30 mins. The most common reason is that, I don't want to be late so I put the timing ahead to "prevent" myself from being late.

But...you know you put +5 mins, you have to -5 min to get the actual time, so if you are alittle late you comfort yourself, there's 5 mins buffer time. Might as well you just put the current time and plan your timing ahead?

Agree! I have seen many bros do that, even I used to do that when I was late to the office a couple of time. But again ,you always know that the time has been set is not the true time, and it made no impact what so ever on the schedule. I found it useful to set my morning alarm that way.

I cant do that to my wrist watches, Imagine doing that to my IWC perpetual Cal. or to my Big Pilot or to my Rolex submariner or to my Panerai..maybe to my Breitling..(maybe) ..heheheheheh....

some people just cannot change their habits of being late so they choose to change the time on the watch instead

Yeah I guess it is only useful if you set your alarm earlier. No point setting the watch faster knowing the "actual time"

I do set my watches and alarm clock +5 so that I will not be late.......... the funny thing is if I follow my watch timing for an appointment and I m late, I will text the other party that I will be late but most of the time, I ended up on time.......and the other party is late......

Well, I guess it all boils down to habit of keeping time

I will prefer to adjust it a few mins faster so that when I have to go a watch sales, I will be early enough to get the best, if not better, deals

Since I wear my watches in rotation, I have to adjust my watches quite often as I don't use winder. I guess it's the same for many of you here. I would adjust the timing to be as precise as possible but won't be bothered if it is off by 1 or 2 minutes few days later since I hardly wear the same watch continuously for more than a week or two.

However I do have quartz clock at home and in the car and both run faster by a few minutes so I can understanding the "benefit" of that

Nice pocket watch and beautiful cat Hiroki-san! But the cat doesn't look too happy wearing the watch. Maybe it prefers a titanium one that is less heavy

i guess this practise is quite common.. when people are busy and looking at the time they adjusted that way they will move faster. of course this will not apply to everybody who have adjusted their time in that manner.

ya i also dun understand y ppl adjust it faster. the reason of 'i adjust it faster so that i wont be late' is invalid leh cus u know u adjust it faster, so u know u r actually not late....

wat i do is i adjust it to the actual time and then use my phone to set multiple alarms starting from 30 min, 15, 10, 5 min before the task....
