Aiyah, it's probably one of those jokes that will go down in history as "did she really said that?' Yeah I thought that was quite funny at that time during the NKF saga.

I kinda miss living along Bras Basah Rd & my neighbours, it was a time when everyone knows everyone & we still could buy things on credit with a 555 booklet, who needs Amex? It was a also a time when we don't need any technology to live our lives, nowadays I see parents & their kids don't even talk much during meals & everyone is just on their iPhone/iPad. Sigh... anyway thanks for starting this thread, it got me thinking & started looking at my old photographs again. I actually scanned some old pix & saved them on my iPhone, just as a memory. Here are some, a pix of my first watch, a Raymond Weil, the place I spent most of my childhood playing marbles & trading cigarettes & my fav mama shop uncle, Thamby, a generous soul.

Bro, these pictures really brought back good memories. My grandma used to live in one of the shophouses along Bencoolen Street near Asia Radio that sold Sierra TV back then. Spent most of my primary & secondary school days around that area and of course at YMCA Macs and Centrepoint. To those who can still remember, there was a time when teenagers that hangs around Centrepoint were called Centrepoint Kids.

Nowadays, that whole changed so much beyond recognition. The park across YMCA is gone together with SJI school field which SMU now sits at. So is National Library, Van Kleef Aquarium and National Theatre.

Speaking of neighbours, those were the days that all of us knew each other well. Now I don't even know who lives across my apartment.

We have come to rely so much on technology that it has really make us lost that human touch.

I spent the first 20 years of my life in the old Toa Payoh. I say the 'old' Toa Payoh because when I go past Toa Payoh now, I no longer find it recognisable, and I am (only) 40... The old rental block that I used to live in is gone, and now many super high rise condos in and around the place...
