Born in jalan eunos...grew up and spent my childhood and teenage years in Potong pasir.
moved out of potong pasir only after i got married but still visits potong pasir as my parents still lives there.
1983 was the year my family relocate there, lotsa changes in potong pasir from the MPs , playgrounds , the canal and during my school days there was a time that they decided to terminate Bus 147 from operating in potong pasir. It was the only bus that stops directly infront of my primary school in victoria street..majority of the residents impacted by the news. Actually there was a small bus interchange in potong pasir back then which only for bus 147 service.
it was a small neighourhood but grew up there was happening!
still in touch with my childhoods friend most of them are married and relocate to other estate
but like me they still visits potong pasir as their parents still lives there.
forget to mention one of the most memorable activities i used to have with my childhood friends was to spent our nite at bidadari cemetery (bidadari cemetery is very near to potong pasir) for a paranormal activity and playing hide and seek. first few trips was the most scariest but after that we used to it and it became our hang out place when we had nothing to do..... now what left is only trees and empty land and you can see the gurkhas and residents nearby utilise the area for running activity.. not only that some photographers were seen using that area for wedding photo shoots

Is the current laksa stall inside the big coffee shop at/near Sungie Road the same old one that you are talking about?

Some say people who collect stuff such as vintage watches/toys/whatever tend to remember their early days better.
I spent my entire childhood and teenage in Sembawang - the old Sembawang, to be exact. I have lived in few differnt part/kampong of Sembawang, and till date I can still clearly remember and visualize many of the streets and places that no longer exist due to resettlement.
My primary school and the carts outside the school selling snacks/tidbits/small little toys and "di gam", my favourite cinema, coffee shops operated by Hainanese, laksa stall, fried noodle stall, fruit stall, places where i played football, and the small public pool @ the old Amiralty Road where I learned my swimming, are part of my memory.
When I was young the MP of Sembawang was the now President Tony Tan, who was also the minister of education during some period.
I still keep in touch with some of my primary school's friends, but lost contact with all the old neighbours and childhood mates. Could any of them be among the SG-ROC members...?
I spent much of my childhood at sembawang though I don't live there, but most of my friends do. Study at the old NBSS, I remember the old Sultan cinema ticket cost 50¢ only. I also hang around the kampong near the F&N factory back then.

Yes! The 50¢ Sultan cinema - that was my favorite cinema. The cinema where I watched the early days' James Bond shows starring Sean Connery and then Roger Moore. Back then there was this unspoken rule of the cinema that every paid adult could bring in a small kid for free. As a child I used to bring in some newspaper to lay on the floor in front of the first row and sat on it to watch the shows.
There was another cinema at the top of a slope across the main Sembawang Road called 京都.
And NBSS, the school next to Canberra Pri and West Hill Pri, was the place I played and learned football during the evenings. The football field there was the only big proper field in the Sembawang area back then and football lovers from all over Sembawang would walk or cycle there to play.
