One Watch, 8 Looks - Choosing a customised leather strap

I’m posting this to share my opinion on how I choose my watch straps for my watch. Please pardon me for the bad photography.

Strap#1

This watch comes with a leather strap (above) and a nylon nato. Since I’ve chosen the bronze watch with a brown dial, this strap matches the dial with the stitching matching the color of the markers, which is off-white.

The vintage look on the strap is just perfect for a rugged look.


Strap#2

With a black leather strap, the bronze watch and the buckle stands out prominently. I chose to use black stitching rather than colored ones to make the watch more prominent. Perhaps this could be worn for the office.



Strap#3

If I want to be flashy, then perhaps an LV strap would be good for parties…just to impress. Here I’ve chosen a chestnut-colored stitch to blend and complement both the watch and the strap itself.



Strap#4

This is the other strap that came with this watch… a nylon nato which makes me ready for a day at the beach or the pool…unfortunately I don’t swim!



There’re 4 more looks for this watch which I’ll post when I have the time.

So a watch can look different with just a change of straps. You can ask your favorite strap maker to customize your straps in many ways. You can pick/match the leather to compliment your watchcase, the bezel color, the marker colors or even the color of the minute/hour hands. The same applies to your stitching colors. The choice is yours…there’s no right or wrong here.

Agree it looks awesome. To me its very "garang" (fierce) but its very stiff like leather on viagra!...

Strap#5

This is a green nubuck leather… epi-styled. I’ve cut the grains horizontally. Here, I’ve chosen green to make it more military-like but picked tan-brown for the stitching to match the gold color hands. Making the keeper with another leather type/color avoids monotony to my strap.

Strap#6

Here’s the twist… the off-white (beige) canvas strap now reflects the dial markers. Military styled again with brass roller-buckles and brass fixed keeper. Both the watch & strap now becomes noticeable! The stitching is in army-green this time…just to shock the bejeezus out of anyone!


This canvas strap is done in “remborde” style.
