One Watch, 8 Looks - Choosing a customised leather strap

Strap#7

Having a darker brown strap already, I made one in a lighter shade. This one is a soft and supple leather that will patina in time. The oils on our skin will be absorbed into the leather and it’ll change its looks over time. And another thing, I’ve left the sides burnished but unpainted to give it a raw look. For the thread, I picked the color of the dial to match this time.

Having checked the background of this watch, I decided to keep the naval theme. This strap is made from striped canvas with an off-white stitch.

Its now becoming an obssession for me...

Here’s the strap (my favorite!) which I’ll be using for CNY. I really don’t know how to describe this leather color! I call it Terracotta but a google search shows “Amaranth”. It’s a darker shade of the salmon I just ate for dinner last nite though…but a tad lighter than the burgundy…


The surface of the leather is suede-like so I made it styled after Tod’s shoes. The keeper also has extra work put into it with stitching all round. The overall color is simply “shiok”. A pale-yellow (ecru – spelling may be wrong) stitch was chosen to match the dial markers and hands.


It was really fun mixing and matching types of leather, choosing thread colors and styling the straps. Please share how you pick strap styles, leather and thread colors for your leather straps. Post your pictures here too.
