I know what you mean Golum.. cos I think you too feel that digital photography kills the skill in photography. Back on the film then, it takes lots of knowledge to take a simple pic in film while weighing all other variables like lighting, fstops, Iso etc
I too was reluctant to embark on digital SLR photography.. even when I go for my honeymoon, I took my EOS3 while my wife use a digital compact... Was really please that 95% of the pic turns our well with quality and that kind of satisfaction is truly unmeasurable. While for digital SLR photography, its just shoot, dun like, delete etc..
But since the arrival of my little one, I decided that its more important to capture those special moments of my son growing up.. looking back, I sure am glad I decided to plunge to digital SLR photography... but for each shot, I try my best to compose the shot the same way as I would on my EOS3.
Triton, whats your setup?? No lah.. 400D is a good entry level camera nia... I believe u easily own a 5D or equivalent rite??

i did not stop when dSLR became mainstream. i continue as i believe that if you dont like the picture, you can always retake. then again, i still take about 2-3 shots of certain scene, call me kiasu. this isibecause memory cards is still cheaper. can always reuse. film? shot one time.
my setup ah? lower grade then yours, 350D nia. standard lenses + flash. i borrow lens + flash from friend when i need to do macro shots etc. as of now, i still waiting, these manufacturers damn smart, every 6 mths release new models. however, it seems to slow down a little guess there is a 'limit' how fast can progress. wait till the next 'big' jump, then i upgrade one level below the 'current'. save money.
there is never the perfect shot. because there will always be a better one in future. this is because we seek to improve.if you have issues with your account, click here for self help and read forum rules here. 90% of your answers can be found in Forum FAQ
