INDUSTRY NEWS – Villemont Files for Bankruptcy

The Geneva based company has closed its doors and declared itself insolvent, a victim of the current world financial woes.

think dickson in singapore is retailing this brand. tho i just saw the watch advertisement recently in a local watch mag. well, another one bites the dust

In the recent years, we have seen many brands surfaced like mushrooms. Some old companies were revived back via marketing, some brands are completely new and not to be named, plenty of privat label companies. I guess it's time for consolidation, the crisis will wipe out the weak one first.

my gut feel is that a few small ones may collapse soon.

brands with strong financial backing esp those under the richemont, LVMH, Swatch groups would definitely survive the downturn.

you can see that some are still spending on A&P, so they would benefit the up-swing in the future.
