    • But folks sorry to say this...but I have lost all respect for someone like this..
I believe with all my heart that the seller knew the existing problem and I can swear from the time I took it till the time I first notice the problem the following morning that I didnt abuse it, drop it, open it or in any way cause it to work in this manner.
I even took a few shots of it that very night I got home and it was even shown to another young guy who came to my place to look at my other watch. I was still proudly showing to him my new acquisition. If none of this exist - a watch dont turn bad just over night...even the repairer also sad you cant possibly get it magnetise over night unless you work in an environment with very strong magnetic field which I'm not.
All the findings/his words so far has led me to believe in my heart the very character of this person.
If everyone here can put the pressure on him... find out who he purchase this watch from...whether was there any enquiry being made about the repair prior to that.... whether has anyone heard him mention about this watch before...
I wouldnt say he is a cheater but just a one off thing that he tried to get rid off or he be stuck with it.

If only I have his address I would like to send this watch to him and let him have it as a present...Money can be earn back and even if for some unfortunate event that I cant earn it back then its only the pain of money and this pain only last for a period and life goes on.
      Well done my friend.

Hmm... Let us all be professional and not emotional about the matter... Going to his school to look for the principal is sinking to a new low. It is a choice one makes. In matters we cannot control, why continue to harp on it. Bro Jamy, i truly believe that you have learnt a valuable lesson.

As always, most of us shop here knowing of the calculated risks involved. What matters is we have been honest in our dealings. If others choose to do otherwise, would we really want to kick a big fuss up over money?

i don't know about many of you but for me, drawing another person's work, family and all in does not reflect too well on our own individual character.

Paul may or not have have mis-represented his watch. How he inculcates values to his charges will be something only he will fully know. He is only truly answerable to his own conscience.

          • Bro, good morning.. I agree. I wont go to the extend of going to his house or school or work place or hunt him down like some "ah long"...If I really want to I would not have come to this forum to air my frustration and would have spend my energy to go hunt him down that way but thats not what I intend to do. I agree Paul may not even misrepresent his watch benefit of a doubt but what I dont like is his unwillingless as a last owner of the watch to set things right. I'm not even asking him to take back the watch or give me back my watch---all I want of him is to put the watch right into working condition thats all --- and I dont give a damn about those unoriginal parts that repairer pointed out...Thats the least I expected from him but he can say is max S$300 and nothing else.
That to me is running away from his responsibility especially the cheap words of guarantee only to add in his terms after the problem surfaces and then to tell me he never open the watch before and yet he has shown the watch in an open condition describing the condition as beautiful in his sales forum...All the things just pointed to one thing if you know what I mean. Anyway thanks...

            • Bro,

Even if I have his photo I wont even want to put it here for all to see. If you want maybe you can ask him to put it on his own free will. If you have seen my profile -- you would have seen my face. Thats because I want to be upfront and let people see who they dealing with but I'm not implying those who refuse to put their photos are having some ulterior motive....
But since he has already stated his real name and mobile number --- thats all I have of him. Appreciate your input. Thanks.

pardon my lack of competence in business law...it has been a few years since school days -

The new lemon law falls under a newly passed amendment to the Consumer Protection Fair Trading Act (Chapter 52A). The Consumer Protection Fair Trading Act provides for the "transferor", as described below

"transferor" - (a) in relation to a contract of sale of goods, means the seller within the meaning of the sales of goods act

Under the Sales of Goods Act, (Chapter 393)

                      Interpretation
Subsection 61.—(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires —

“seller” means a person who sells or agrees to sell «goods

                      Cheers.

when it comes to second hand goods no longer produced, perhaps it is not as clear cut.

further, agreeing to buy a "vintage" speedmaster means that the buyer accepts the possibility of inherent defects associated with the nature of such items. this is important as "defect" has not been defined by law and the problems spelled out by JAMY may be compatible with said defects/acceptance.

additionally, the seller has provided a remedy ($300 for repair or partial refund) but this was rejected by the buyer from the onset. a claim for a $1,200 repair bill can be, as agreed by many members of this forum, extreme thus further remedies need not be offered at this time.

finally, the law was enacted in response to unscrupulous businesses/retailers in mind, and how this spirit would affect private persons disposing of unwanted second goods no longer in production remains to be tested.

i guess the first step is figuring out what JAMY really wants to do with the watch and then proceed from there. i'm having difficulty knowing what his intentions are.
