  • No more Rolex and PP at Sincere

    According to Business Times today,

Rolex n PP want out of Sincere. I dont know when will the sales will cease at Sincere though.

Maybe Sincere was found out to be undercutting the market with extraordinary discounts to regulars.

Well, to add fuel to the fire, JLC is already out of THG, but not for the above reason. Soon, AP will also be axed from THG too.

I think this is because some of these luxury brands realise that it better (for them) to work exclusively with a single retailer. With a single exclusive retailer, they will be more incline to spend on advertising versus advertising and benefiting other retailers. Stocks are also limited with some brands and so no point to have so many retailers selling. Finally they hope to also stop the price cutting among the retailers, which of course is bad for consumers like us! Lange has also moved out of THG and is now exclusive with Sincere.

Agree with the above if there are too many ADs the brand will no longer maintain the exclusive image that
they want to project and not to mention the mark ups$$$$$. Does anyone know amongst the major ADs,

THG, Sincere, Cortina ?, who is the the largest?

There could be many different reasons for such move, including those mentioned above.

Cortina's dealership of Rolex watches was once suspended some years ago.

Actually it's best for established brands to own the boutiques themselves. Virtually no discount esp the boutiques or special versions.
they can control their pricing/margins better.
Just look at the number of JLC, IWC, Panerai boutiques opening.

It is unfortunate that Sincere will not be carrying Rolex.

However, i am wondering has this got to do with Sincere 'changing ownership'?

Fret not, there will be a new retailer (AD) coming in to sell Rolex.

              Who will it be?

I think you're right to point out that the change of ownership is possibly one of the main reasons.

But if we look at the brands that Sincere is carrying...it seems to go into more "independent" brands like Dewitt, Romain Jerome, Grueubel Forsey & etc....i guess they will still be around for a while..

it's not a good thing if more brands are setting up their boutiques...means discount will be miserable and it's definitely not good for consumers.

I think it doesn't matter as AD is just an shop authorized to sell, but if there is any problems, we still liaise with the service center directly. If Sincere is still an AD, at least we can pass the watch and go through them as service center usually only opens on weekdays. Other than this, I don't find any good news whether they are relinquishing as AD or not. I also think they won't slash prices or clear stocks. Only thing is quite surprised! Why would Sincere give up? Rolex is a good brand and everyone knows Rolex.

OMG this is bad & sad news! One less AD means we consumers will have lesser place for discounts due to "lesser competition" among ADs. Both Rolex & PP will start to mark up their prices again soon?

Rolex will never let a AD dump their stock. Bad for branding. Normally some arrangement will be made to take back stock with no lost to the AD.
