whats with "bRought" & "bOught"

this is not a flame or rant thread, just an observation about the prevalent usage of "brought" to mean "bought" on many posts here (for that matter many internet forum posts in singapore, be it car, electronics etc).

is this a singaporean thingy? what do you folks think?

yes, the message is conveyed correctly through incorrect grammer.

i have heard some china folks comment under their breaths that singaporeans are not good in mandarin, neither do they have the command of proper english. so much for our "world class" education

some s'poreans do have shoddy mandarin. which is as well, some aussies have shoddy english too . one shouldnt take substandard language skills as a pointer on the education system. it boils down to the individual.
one can have queens english, but not be english university educated, the same goes for everyone.

which is why i say, want to speak a language, learn it properly, dont take shortcuts.
