  • Top 10 Car brands in SG Jan to May 12

    1. BMW 2116
    2. Mercedes 2089
    3. Toyota 1633
    4. Volkswagen 1422
    5. Audi 734
    6. Hyundai 557
    7. Volvo 420
    8. Kia 367
    9. Nissan 332
    10. Porsche 239

Honda used to be one of the top contender. The civics and accords were the names for top spot to Toyota . Now it's overtaken by Porsche . Less weight more speed.

With taxi and luxury cars cutting into cat A, and expectation of further cat A cut in August, the COE prices will retain.
Audemars Piguet Ball Bell&Ross Cartier IWC Longines Omega Panerai Rolex Sinn Tissot

    Alba Casio Citizen Roox Seiko

Wanted to add PP but bo lui

Surprisingly hyundai and kia are top10 in 2012
The 6mth-average price of cat A COE is probably more than 4x the omv of a hyundai avante or kia cerato

As a current VW owner, advise is to stay clear of it.

Not surprising for BMW to be at the top given the current exorbitant COE prices.

If you go to VAGSG frequently then you will know.

Basically there's have been many car faliure/breakdown on the 7 DSG that's on golf, polo, jetta, touran, 1.8 passat. And it's been reported in other countries too. China has made a big hoo hah and VW extended the warranty but nothing like that in SG....

The current ones on 6 speeders are the Tiguan, Sharan and higer range types.

with COE costing 50-90k in 1H 2012, it makes sense for buyers who aim at higher OMV cars to enter the market
funny thing is how did low OMV cars like hyundai and kia make it on the list

As a current vw (golf sport) owner, I can assure you of three things :
                        1) it's a great car to drive.
                        2) but it's a ***** to own.
                        3) be warned, as the initials suggest it's a Very Worrysome car to own.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

Current titian comes with the 7-spd box.

I know exactly what you mean. I have been back to vcs about 20 times to date since I got my ride in sept '09. Even the kopi aunties know me by sight now.

The problem with the 7-spd box is mainly the clutch. It uses a dry clutch rather than a wet clutch. The 6-spd used in higher end models like the gti, r, use wet clutch.

My 2-year plus golf sport is already running on it's third clutch already. Been back to change twice. This clutch often results in clutch slips after a while. The wet clutch is able to take a heavier beating than the dry ones. I reckon they should've sent their cars to Bangkok to test rather than the wide open roads of the autobahn. Another commonly rotted problem is the "flashing 'D'" or "Flashing Death".

interesting... my cuz just bought a 1.4 sirocco and i told him not to adhere to the ATF oil change as per log book but to change every 20k kms.

i have noticed that changing the ATF helps to increase the life of the gearbox. my (old) honda is still running 100kms on its factory oil (weekend car) . first thing im going to do when i get back to perth is drain/flush/refill the ATF.
