  • How long do you take to sell a watch on SG-ROC/other watch forums on average?

I thought it would be interesting for us to share this...

I actually made a calculation based on my 28 sales so far and the average figure came up to be 18.5 days, higher than what I thought I normally took to sell a watch. Looking at the statistics, it does show than I took shorter time in the recent one year or so as compared to the earlier days, so I guess I am becoming smarter with more experience

The longest time I took to sell a watch is 4.5 months, the shortest < an hour after posting (watch was collected the next morning as deal was agreed late night).

    I never count. 2 weeks I guess.

Speed depends on price and model.

Good price and it will be out in an hour.

Some but not many (fortunately) - part and parcel of selling online. Usually I try to ask buyers to come to my place or meet somewhere in between, and call them before I leave to meet them.

Sometimes sellers can be a time waster too - posted for sale then never respond to inquires, or went MIA half way.

Hope I see less of them when the time comes when I decide to sell my watch.

Seen my watches go within an hour, fastest was 45 mins including collection.

Seen some watches sit for months...lost count haha.

All depends on pricing, condition and the buyer

Hmmm...like what darkie said, it depends on the right timing, brand and price for sale.
My quickest sale was a Cartier Santos, gone within one or two days, my slowest sale took almost two years...

put up my first sale post on 4 june 2012 , managed to get a buyer to view watch on 7 june 2012,

buyer will close deal on next tuesday but some amount of $ already transfered to me as to secure the watch.

i think its quite fast for my first sale and maybe im just lucky that the model that im selling is the one that he is looking for. thanks SG ROC!

My fastest was less than an hour...a Pam 219. For most, within a week cos I will withdraw and keep by week 2. Don't like to keep monitoring the sale thread.

                            Hey Bro Pegasi,
Haha, for most guys its patience but for me its the thought of keeping a nice piece that I won't wear, so just keep on pushing the sale until it was sold at a big loss. Yeah, same story with the Daniel Roth too...don't think it is sold yet but I hope one day it finds a buyer who appreciates it. Your Stowa was probably the piece taken within hours eh? : )

You're right on the Stowa. There were few that were also went within hours, mostly not-so-expensive watches. One thing I have learned is that the longer a sale drags, the lesser chance it would fetch a good price. The watch that I took longest time to sell is also the one that incurred highest loss - it was a vintage and I never touch vintage since.
