I am not sure I agree that the best team always win in such a tournament. In a league where every team plays every team both home and away, then yes the best team (over the whole season) wins.

I guess few would say that Greece was the best team in the 2004 tournament, but then one could always argue what "best" means

Yup, "best" has board meaning in this case.
Well the players with the right physical conditions, hunger, harmony and focus are important attitbutes to the "best" team and not forgetting lots of luck, especially in Euro... LOL

With all the infighting in both the England and Holland teams,I will not be surprised if Spain retains the trophy.

Spain plays one of the best football over the last few years and it's simply a joy watching them pass the ball around and having opponents chasing air... If Spain players, old and new, can maintain their hunger and motivation they would stand a high chance to retain the crown. They need to overcome themselves to win.

I bet match of the tournament is played in the group stage.

Can't see Spain changing their striker-less formation with Ronaldo threaten up front. Hope I am wrong, and that Spain would go out to attack and give us an entertaining high-scoring semi.
