For coverage Singtel, for affordability Starhub. Either is ok. M1's expensive.

If you pick up a starving dog and nurse him well, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man.
Don't really have good experiences with slide phones. In the long run, the sliding mechanism might pose a problem. Also, should you accidentally drop the phone when fully opened, you might pick up your phone in 2 pieces. My preference is nokia E71 (with GPS somemore) or E51 (cheap smartphone that wows!).

Actually, I feel that the E71's size is optimum for its qwerty thumbpad as compared with its predecessors E61 and E61i, whereby it's almost impossible to sms with one hand unless you have hands of a freak. Have not heard of complaints batterywise... but if you're in dire need of long lasting batterylife, get a Philips Xenium with super long battery life as a spare phone, only need to charge once in 2 weeks even if you're a heavy user
