some of you may have heard me saying this before, i have walk a full circle, now i am back to rolex.
i started appreciating rolex watches, then along the way, i venture out to other brands like seiko, dievas and most recently helson. however, i found myself back where i started, appreciating rolex watches again.
i was at watch and whisky event last night, i was chatting with this gentleman who is a watch enthusiast and was discussing about many things. then can the usual pleasantries, exchange name, name cards, what you do, etc. this gentleman happens to be a moderator from another watch forum. so naturally the conversation continued in watches and so on.
one sentence that he said caught my attention, he mentioned that he heard several watch enthusiasts mentioned that they have walk a full circle and they are back into appreciating rolex. i replied, that i certainly most agree.
i started appreciating 1501 which my dad has one over the past 30 odd years, been into RSC 3 times for full overhaul each costing more than 2k. why pay this amount when the amount is similar to the buying cost?
then i went into appreciating modern sports pieces, the 16570. 16710. 16520......after which it seems that the passion for rolex is declining and i went out looking @ other brands. after spending 4 years in the wilderness, i came back to rolex looking @ the vintage pieces.
i have walked a full circle, now i am back with rolex. an evergreen brand that caters for everyone.
