Rolex is affordable by most who have a decent job and lifestyle.
Maybe take a few months to save to buy for some people but it is a small ticket item with little further maintenance.
Hmmm, I have decent job and lifestyle and am trying my best to convince myself to spend the $$$ on a Rolex. Not easy. I lived with a tag for 20 years till it died.
In Singapore, cars are probably the worst way to spend your money (assuming you're ultra-rich). Watch can usually keep up to 60% of the residual value, while cars fully depreciate (other than the PARF value).

Bro, think of itthis way.
If you got a Rolex then, it wont die on you and probably worth more today.
I know cos my first Rolex was a Subdate back in 98 when it was still fairly rare on a twentysomething yr old fella.
I still wear it today although i hv more than a dozen more.
So go for one you like, today!
i think everyone needs to recognise that they are both stupid investments. to mention depreciation in the same breath as cars/watches will only cause heartache.
however, i do have some tots on this - let me put it this way - i don't wanna be:
(1) wearing an AP on the bus/driving an old japanese car
(2) wearing a casio while driving a merc
all things in life must be balanced. suggest you go temple and reflect on how to spend your money wisely.
Whenever I think of changing my ride, I keep measuring the depreciation against another watch that I can own. Hence I have constantly scraped the idea of getting a nicer car.
Do any of you have this dilemma? Example a Merc has around 15-20 k depreciation per year dependent on how long you hold onto it.
Thoughts?

Bro, same goes to me. The depreciation of a car is equivalent to throwing away a new Sub or Batman After all, cars in Singapore is on valid for 10 years before COE expired. There are no expiry date for watches as long as you maintain & exercise good care. It may become better price for vintage watch
