  • Watch of course....

Car in sg is a liability. After 10 years u get back maybe 20% or less of what you paid.

Watch on the other hand actually retains value reasonably well with super low maintenance cost vis-a-vis a car and in some rare cases actually appreciate in value so you wear for free for 10 years or more and can still make some money.

The other downside for car is peculiar to sg. Our stoooopid ownership system means we only own it for 10 years. Not sure you can consider that ownership at all...

    • Watch seems like a wiser choice now with the sky high prices and depreciation

        • I drive but I take public transport as well. The good watch I seem so far in MRT are...a gold VC, AP black diver( a few times already), AP RO, reverso and nautilus( all wore by different ppl and a few look like expat.)

                • Got to have both. Depending on the stages of your life, a balanced approach would be:

Not married - Honda Jazz and Seiko
Newly married - Toyota Altis and Omega
Young family - Honda Oydessy and Rolex
                  Mid-life - Mercedes E/BMW 5 and Lange/Patek
Towkay - Lexus and Rolex with diamonds

Somewhere along the line, a Porsche and Richard Mille will also be nice.

i see you have a thing for sports car - after retirement, your choice of car is rather abrupt though

but i'd still love to have any of the above combos!

                            • watches!

get to admire your own watch collection at the comfort of your home..
need no "scrap" after 10 years..
more or less they are assets.. (best if its appreciating)

                              • Personally, i would prefer nice car than watches. Nice car i can drive around to different areas, go rounding..
