Actually my concern is that if I don't polish it when there are slight scratches, deeper scratches may happen that can't be polished off later.

For what I know scratches don't deepen over time. Scatches are part of having a watch. There is almost no way of keeping it scatch free if you use the watch. If you examine anyone's watch careful, there bound to have hairline scratches..... So even after polishing, soon scratches will be back.

are you trying to ask if say a current hairline scratch on the watch will deepen the next time user accidentally scratch on the same area again will deepen the current depth of scratch?

it is possible, depending on the way it comes in contact, depending on amount of force, etc.

personally, i would say enjoy the watch on your wrist. take due care, accidental scratches are unavoidable. if a user wants to maintain it scratch free, just buy the watch with stickers in tact and keep it in the safe and dont handle it.

Yup I'm concerned with deepening the current scratches. Guess I'll have to live with them for the time being and polish it later

Buy liao just wear and enjoy the watch bah, even the ocassional winding and bringing out to admire may introduce scratches...

My father always tell me, if buy liao dun wear but bring out once a mth to admire, might as well head to diff AD to admire monthly, that way I still get to keep the $$$. Guess that partially true (minimally for the evergreen production models which I buy)

on the topic of watch care but unrelated to scratches, i was wondering if keeping the watch in the holder (the plastic? cardboard? one) that comes with the box will eventually lead to a stretched chain? I do that now, and recently just thought of the possibility.

possibility of chain being stretched is there in the long run but very very minimum. the bracelet should be wrapping around the cushion just nicely. this means that when the watch is not being forced into the cushion or when the clasps is fastened, it is not like gripping on the cushion tightly aka the cushion is being compressed very tightly.

this is why most watch box and winder cushions are made of foam.

Yes, may be & no. It depends on how the bracelet has been sized. The more links are taken out, the tighter it will get around the cushion.

My first scratch on my pam comes not from wearing, but from cleaning it after admiring it! Wah, heart pain... Any tips to prevent fine scratches on polished bezel? Was thinking of dipping the whole head into water or alcohol. Good idea?

For those those light scratches that are not too serious you can always use cape cod polishing cloth which cost ard $ 9- $10
