  • Watch buying dilemma!

Hi guys, looking for some advice here. I'm looking for a watch that I can wear daily. I'm currently using a PAM104, but ever since I've got a few scratches on the bezel through almost everyday wear, I'm hoping to use it more for weekends after sending it for polishing.

So I am searching for a watch suitable for daily use. My budget is about 6-7+k. I am juggling between the choice of getting a Chopard GT XL (Power Reserve model) and a U-Boat FlightDeck. I like the former because it is suitable for office wear, but I do love the U-Boat for the dial and design, just that it is a bit chunky and informal.

I'm not getting another PAM as I prefer more variety in my watches. and I have a budget to meet. So, any advice on what I can get as a decent daily beater with my budget? I prefer 44mm and above watches though

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Maybe you should consider a rolex vintage....... there are already battle scars present on most of them and adding a few more will not make a difference.....

With your budget of $7k, you should be able to afford both if you get them used.
That said, if you really want to go for one, I'd say the Chopard GTXL will be a nice dressy yet sporty addition and also a good alternative as you already own a Pam and U-boat classico, doesn't make sense for you to get another U-boat at this moment.
But as the owner of two flightdecks, I must also say that these boats have their magnetism too! : )

Ah, sold off my Flightdeck ABO and Chopard GTXL a while back but I'm sure something good will eventually surface for you.
If you wait patiently enough, a used Chopard GTXL (non power reserve though) can be got about 3-3.6k, a used flightdeck CAB (the chrono version) about 3k and you're all set!

Chopard is a good brand. I do quite like Chopard too. I feel big and chunky watch is too big for asian's wrist to handle. Anyway, try out both and get the one you prefer more.

Actually I do love chunky watches. Just that the flightdeck isn't really suitable for work wear. I would say 44 to 45mm is the sweet spot for me.
