Dont think can make money out of watches bought direct from ADs or preown shops
Unless if u buy preown direct from owners at lower price, provided watch in mint condition

How much can we really make off watches? The "profit" is just too minimal to be considered a good investment. I would rather look at it as a form of collection and any amount I can make off it is just considered a bonus.

maybe only the AD or dealers can call it an investment. their lifeline depends on it. LOL.

But i bought a 5711 sealed a few years at $28K never wore at all sold it for $30k lately as the price rose to $37k

Exactly, what I meant was something like that. The $2k I will not really look at it as a "profit". Just a "bonus" which covers the servicing and stuff over the years. Just be happy with what you buy and wear it proudly!

My view, watches are not investments, dont expect to make money from it. Generally.

I find it hard to accept buying a watch and leave it in safe as BNIB, ( hoping that one day the value can match the inflation rate).
Should enjoy wearing it as an integral part of your person as you go through life experiences.

Of course, those in the business of trading is different story, its just goods for making money, buy low sell high.

In his case(5711), he did not wore it. So can't considered enjoyed the watch. I don't believe in buying a watch and not wearing. If like this, I rather use the money buy other things or invest in stocks.

Watch can't be investment. 90% of time lose money. 8% breakeven. 2% make money. If this is investment, it is
probably worst investment tool I ever know!

some wise guru once said that you need to spend a big fortune before you make a small fortune on watches.
imo, don't go into this hobby if you are thinking of it as an investment.
