Rolex is just a mass market watch compared to the collectibles.

However they are unique in that they can raise prices, and surprisingly people still happy to pay ...

    • I m new here but not new in watches hobbies.
The best investments i had was the happy moments when i got a watch that i have been aiming at preown shops, can't afford brand new and also not intending to lose alot when resell.

But true reasons ..watches are not really for investment, more as a passions.

                • Quite surprised to see the Daytona though its very nice and popular, as the watch is pricey as well...

                  • Imo, Buy the watch you like most and look nice on your wrist, within your budget.
Enjoy wearing it in good health and it should make you happier and brighten up your day.
Think of the day you own the watch and not how much you have lost on the watch.
Investment is maybe when you change your hobby into BUSINESS

i think the demand of daytona is driven partly by the fact tat its not readily available.. it can take up to a year before u get ur order of daytona from the AD..

                          • watces as investment

Hi, I hope this question has not been asked before here. If we wish to do a little investment on watches, what are the brands/models we should consider?

I was told not to buy quartz watches as they are basically electronics. Whether it is $200 or $20K, the moment is the same.

I know locally, Rolex is very well traded. But for serious buyers, I realise there are others. Tag seems to loose value over time.

                            Care to share?

                            • Buy properties, gold for investment, not watches

                              • Watches like cars depreciate the moment they leave the shop/showroom. Investment wise, better 2 put ur $$$ in stocks, property, gold, etc. Having said, there r of course sm brands/models (limited/discontinued) of watches tat appreciate overtime, like Rolex Sub 1680, Paul Newman Daytona, PP, AP jus to name a few.
