  • Monthly Pawnbrokers Auction - Good place for bargains???

    Hi All,

Maybe we could organize an outing to one of these pawnbroker auctions to scope out some good bargains?

Any bro here successful bidded for one?

Went there once and notice some pre-owned shopowners there. Saw Subs, gold OPs and GMTs. Some even come with papers. Never stayed around long enough to witness the bidding process though.

Visit the URL below for dates and locations.

my view is that u need to know the prevailing market value for the items interested. also abit hard as on site dunno if can open the watch for inspection for condition.

mostly is what you see is what you bid for, with no warranty. (at least the auction system in Perth).

It's not going to be easy to get good deals, and I tell you why

              a) You are going to be bidding against many established pre-owned dealers

              b) Products are dealt with in "as is" condition - I understand that unless watch is fake, there is no recourse after you win a bid. You need to be able to size up condition of watches accurately.

              c) If exciting examples appear, everyone knows the potential value, so you are not going to get away with cheap deals

              d) Other reasons - cannot mention in an open forum like this lah, and unless we are very close friends

However, no harm attending just for the fun of it.
