Last time i looked into sofa reupholstery, it was more expensive than buying a brand new sofa, and selling the old sofa as scrap wood (solid hardwood frame).

i had a 3 seater sofa and 2 single matching chairs, to reupholster in leather cost me $8k. the same amount of money buys me a new leather sofa. not sure if the price difference is same in sg.

the reason why they charge high rates is if many people upholster, then can't sell new ones.....

also it depends on what is your expectation of re-upholstering. if want to use back original material, then have to look into the 'foam' under the leather. sometimes it is not worth to reupholster.

for me, my current 2 2 seater sofa have been around for possibly 20 years. undergone upholster twice. rates is reasonable. however, if the leather gives way this time, not going to upholster anymore as the 'foam' inside is pass its shelf life.

car upholstery is a ***** to fix. depending on your car, it may be better to buy a used seat from car wrecker and install.
