seeking expert opinion and looking for reliable electrician/air con specialist

for the past 4 nights, there has been a power trip in my house. each time the power trip would occur within 2 hours after turning on my room single unit air con. the interesting thing is that during the day time when the same air con is on, there is no power trip.

however, some may say that not all appliances are on @ the same time during the day and night. i agree however, the only major difference is possibly the lights. other than that any big drawing power appliances are on during the day as well. another interesting thing is that after the first trip, i wait for about another 20-30 mins, i on the air con again. there wont be any power trip anymore after that.

yesterday morning, an air con specialist dropped by and check if there is any leakages in the air con unit in my room with a meter. there was a reading which i cant recall. he say that it is normal. however, when i the same device to test it against another single unit air con, there was no reading which is the right result. tested against the fridge, slow cooker yield the same result.

last night was not good. the power trip occurred another couple of times after the first trip. this has lead me to believe that it is likely my room single unit air con that is causing the fault.

i disagree with the air con specialist that dropped by yesterday morning. the air con technician that installs and cleans my air con is dropping by later this morning. im not sure if he can resolve this issue.

i would appreciate if you have any suggestions/recommendations to aid in fixing this problem air con of mine.

at first after seeing your post, I thought your power main unstream might not be sufficient to substain your household overall usage.

I just wanna ask when it trip, does it trip ur MCCB or RCCB?

If it's RCCB that means there's problem with ur appliances but if it's MCCB that trips, that mean the power main is insufficient to substain ur house overall power usage.

Or another long winded method will be, plucking out all ur appliances and plucking in 1 by 1 to test see which appliance trips the power.if everything goes well,then u can pluck all in and on all the power and u will know what's wrong.

Hope this helps to narrow down the trouble shooting part to whether which trips.

thank sifu for advice.

first 2 trip, it was MCCB. after that, become MCCB.

i did 1 step better. @ the circuit breaker, pull out all live wire. then test 1 by 1. isolated to my room socket. in my room got 4 double socket. couple of them are running on 8 sockets extension .

insulation on power socket is also a suspect. however, i have been running on such for couple of years already. so with the recent power trip. i i have also narrow down to the air con. why? last night the moment i on, the power trip.

this morning, pull out the circuit board and compressor unit and check. compressor insulation there is a bit of suspect. tape all metal connectors. found some water droplets inside. dry it. fit all back. will monitor again tonight.

i hate the trouble shooting. took almost 2 hour with the electrician/air con specialist to trouble shoot. climb up and down. sian. cause floor to ceiling is 12 feet. the circuit board is above 8 feet. climb up and down the ladder until leg soft.

hope sharing some of this little electrical trouble shoot may benefit some of the hands on people in this forum to trouble shoot some stuff.
