  • Best value-for-money watches

My intention of this thread is for everyone to share what you feel is the best value-for-money watch - it can be a few-hundred-dollar watch or costs tens of thousand so long as you feel what you get is worth much more than the money paid.

You may nominate more than one. I will start the ball rolling with two < SGD1000 watches:

    Seiko Sumo
Laco Pilot with ETA movement (manual or auto)

No price for guessing if I own the above watches
Watches are like potato chips - You never stop at one

By the way please nominate base on current market price and not what you paid 10 years ago. Think that would be more interesting/relevant, and may benefit fellow forumers who are looking for a value-for-money watch.

I think the GMT 2, not the C version is the most value for money..

                  1. Seiko Sumo.....cost about a tenth of a Rolex Sub but certainly looks and perform much much better than its relative worth.
                  2. Any JLC 8-days

for me, value-for-money usually means pre-owned... but it must still be packed with features that make it better than others or have features that are usually found in up-market models.

dress watch: zenith chronomaster (triple date + 12 hour chrono + moonphase + inhouse movement).

dive watch: tudor hydronaut/old hydronaut 2 (or anything with a triovis fine regulator upgrade but it must cost under $2k or +10% max).

i didn't put in chinese, russian or the cheaper japanese dive watches because they aren't as "accurate" as i would like them to be capable of.

For me, I would feel Rolex Sub becoz it is one of the model always hot in demand and the price always go up. You would not be wrong if you invested in one now.
