        maybe

can write to local news print.. not as a complain but rather to seek clarification from MFA and the particular embassy... u might get a clearer picture..

can consider posting to international watch forums and seek the advise of other travellers? who knows, you might not just be the only one.

omg the singapore consulate in rotterdam replied! they are investigating into this matter. they called the dutch police but they refused to discuss this over the phone. i wonder what will happen from here.

let's say that they are unable to tax peronal goods, but you have already paid them the taxes. are you able to get back your money?

I think to get the money back is a tall order. those doing international law might shed some light to this. if I understand correctly TS is transiting in amsterdam. as such does the police have a right to impose the law since he is not entering the country? actually I am interested to know how the mfa is going to handle this case.

i doubt MFA will be able to do anything. i doubt the local paper will print such a letter also. but i hope you get your grievances aired and addressed.

2 watches on the wrist may be common for us... but hey, when in rome...

my wife transited through Australia once, and nearly lost her connection because she was detained by AU immigration/customs for interrogation. she was NOT trying to enter Australia - she was trying to catch a plane onward to an international destination.

i won't go into details, but she was accused of many things and her personal belongings were rifled through. the singapore embassy told me tough luck. the south korean embassy told her tough luck.

the US embassy on the other hand... got her released in time for her flight (and later on an apology letter).

just use a clean sock and fold your watch inside. and shove it down your bag, or pockets. dont get bitten again!
