have you had any experiences with the alpine cda-117e? i know it aint the best in the market; but i cant be bothered spending bucket loads of cash on ICE now because i dont know when i will be getting rid of my car.

currently have a double din stock radio; but intend to replace with a single din and install a pocket below.

whats the going price for the cda117e these days in sg?

you can get a hardtop version if you so wish. i never driven one before, looks kinda fun to be honest.

canvas roof = no sound proofing => nice soundtrack when the engine redlines...

Sorry not too sure of this model , but generally Alpine HU are 1 of the best if you wanna go for sound quality .
But from what i read , its a good HU with all the wow features , suggest you add a Audison Bit 1 processor if you want to achieve full active system for SQ .
Price wise sorry i've no idea .

Thanks bro, ive read its a decent HU, actually; i have considered retaining stock speakers . purely cos i want to add iphone connectivity. these days im no longer concerned about SQ in the car priorities have changed for me.

Hmm.... Bro most HU today offer ipod/iphone connectivity , dun have to use Alpine lah , better invest the money on speaker as its the most value for money upgrade in any sound system .
Moreover a good pair of speakers can last you many many years , i've been using my current speakers for more than 5 years and still going strong......

once i start to buy speakers/HU. i will crave for a sub and amp combo . this addiction could get outta control for me also my reason for choosing alpine; cos they are built like a tank and the GUI actually quite nice *imo*. not to mention when i sell the car; i will most likely change back to stock HU.

upgrade speakers also mean pulling apart four doors . shouldnt take too long. last time i did a job took me about 45mins to rip the door apart.

will look into budget options for the car; as the car currently being driven around isnt exactly worth alot of money, no point sinking too much into ICE. maybe if i upgrade to something nicer
