IMHO I think 80% of them are, like e 80/20 rule. Most of what I've met are sadly. Not only from me but from other frens as well, I've heard tat e girl will nt even talk to u if u dun haf car and tat is e basic requirement. They wan to be chaffered around. Some I've encountered even dun go hawker centre to makan as they say too hot. No kopitiam, must be starbucks etc.

I wonder wat went wrong wif e society..its e upbringing I've come to believe.
Conclusion for me is. 80% materialistic and most of them are SPG. YMMV.
no lah bro....for me, it's 80% not materialistic and 20% materialistic....

no matter what its about managing the girl that u r dating's expectations. for our part we must work hard too.
nowadays women getting more education, they can earn sure, but at the same time they also spent thousands on retail therapy per month.
i dont see the point of giving $9999 dowry, sponsoring 10 banquet tables for the female side, or footing 50% of the photo album $ when the wife is the one who choose to take many shots. esp when the wife is earning as much or more than the husband.
in the end, its about choosing the life partner that suits you. if not it will be disastrous!

Well, all these depends on personal experience with the girls we all met... For me, i think i'm consider lucky when i met my current girl. She's simple, well educated, pretty, n most of all, love me with 100%. I was poor, owns credit card bill when i knew her. But becos of her, i've change from "in-debt" to "debt-free" now, n able to afford my first rolex, a TT GMT master IIc with full cash payment. (of cos with spare left lah). Alone the way, i've come across several materialistic girls, will only love u for ur "fat wallet" type... So its all fate.... But generally, 70-90% women nowadays are money-minded.... Thats my take...

Most of the women I know has high expectation in life, but not sure it's considered materialstic. They told me it's retail therapy that help to ease their stress.

If can afford, nothing wrong in enjoying finer things in life, just don't get enslaved by those desires that one can't hold up.

i think a lot depends on 'who you attract' and 'who u get attracted too'........

if you wearing many bling blings.....or look like a sugar daddy....naturally.....they will want $$$ from you.......

but really....i think sg gals still not as bad some some other country such as HK, Japan.......but catching up.........

Personally, there are bound to be a materialistic person in all walks of life.. but I am sure there are those who kana burn themselves.. like a gal I know being materialistic married a Ang Mo (cos he is an expat and a GM of an MNC), I knew her from my Poly days and even then, there were tell tale signs that she will one day marry an Ang Mo kind of gal. Anyways, 2 yrs later, he divorced her for a Philippina.. I wasn't really sympathising with her, in fact, I told our mutal friend that 'what goes around comes around' cos she actually dumped her 6yr relationship with a SG guy (since our final yr in poly) for that Ang Mo back then...

I hear now she is more "down to earth" but sometimes it takes such cruel experience to wake a person up... I wish her ALL THE BEST though.

Sg gals have 1 set of standard for Ang Mo and the other set(more through) for sg guys..And i don't mean all but certain % of them.
Not all but i would some quite a high % of AM will play and dump the SG gals when they find a better one.
Cos in their own country women don't throw themselves at them but over here we have sg ladies leech themselves to them..
Anyway if sg ladies have to learn this way to be "un-materialistic" is indeed very sad..
But end of the day i say sg men are much better than AM.
Cos in the region ard sg men are much sought after and believed to take gd care of family.
