  • Rugged tees, berms and slippers into AD

I was on MC the other day, and decided to pop by one of the AD which was recently discussed regarding GMTiic price. Donned in tee and berm, I actually hesitated outside the shop and started wondering whether to go in or not. Suddenly I felt like I was really under dressed.

Back to my encounter the other day, I must say that I was really surprised that the SE there was helpful enough to show me a few pieces, and even urge me to try out to compare. Eventually I got one which I had been eyeing for the longest time and left the shop as a happy customer in less than 20 minutes.

The experience had more or less changed my perception on AD, however I know that if my next watch will again be from an AD, it'll only be from the same shop/ outlet.

Actually I'm not a AD person, and never stepped into one more than 4 times in my life. Mainly because I cannot stand the "atas" and "tidak apa" attitudes in some SE. In fact, I made a impulsive purchase previously in another AD, simply to spite the SE with F*** up attitude.

Not sure if it's due to my dressing, I'm always on tees, berms and slippers during non-working hours. And usually this is the time when I have the mood to shop and spent, but most salesperson either "bochup" or stick really close, like you'll pull out a dagger to rob anytime.

Maybe it's just me, perhaps bros here with similar dress habit can share a bit here on your god/ bad experiences with high end stores.

high end such as boutique, i seldom walk in. most of the time, i wear t-shirt bermudas and slippers. i dont really care what attitude they give me.

so far, they are ok with me in that attire. they generally dont 'bug' me by following me around. but when i need assistance, they are willing to assist. i prefer that they dont bug me.

sometimes those towkay will dress like tat, not just for watch purchases, but for cars as well. recently, i too went into HG with my 2 babies n wife with 2 prams. she was keen on the cartier santos 100 but somehow no stock in most places. basically nobody really bothered that we went in the shop and having 2 prams, we have to open heavy doors ourselves while moving the prams in AND out. to add, on the way out, 1 SE opened the door and left without holding it for us even when he saw we are on the way out. totally sucky service by HG

my old man knows of a mechanic in sg; he said; those who dress decently with big coat/tie/shirt and polished shoes. tend to be the time wasters. those who come with oil stained shorts, stained shirts from work and steel capped shoes tend to be so damn busy; they are more likely to purchase on the spot.

like triton mentioned: as long as they are willing to serve when assistance is needed. that is all that matters.

Triton/ Seiko.Citizen: perhaps it's really just me. Most of the time, even when a SE render his/ her assistance, they seem to be in a hurry/ impatient even when there's no other customers around. That might give me the impression that i am wasting their time. Of course, there are exceptions where some boutique staff really take their time to explain the products and offer suggestions when required, but only a handful around.

Even HK has started to improve their CS in the last 5 years, and yet SG is still in a 3rd world level where dressing comes 1st....

I absolutely love wearing t-shirt, bermudas and flip flops to buy watches, cars, boutiques etc etc.

                      Haha!

if it makes you guys feel any better; i once went into a mac store in perth. dressed in surf boardies; tshirt and thongs. i enquired a top of the line laptop at the time. the arse told me "oh, those laptops are not common; way too expensive for normal people!" WTF!?!

next day i walk in armed with my slightly older laptop of equal make/model. the price on his face was priceless.
