For those that are settled down in sing with kids and family,it's very hard to uproot from here and go to another country..
Meaning they are stuck here for decades and being suppressed by sg gov for many many years to come..
Getting a wife from overseas poses certain risks tat comes in cultural difference/thinking/etc..but let's not forget that you have another option to live in another country where one can be more relax..
eg. like China/Thailand or Malaysia..these places may not compare as sg but then they provide another alternative way of living...
