Tend not to agree, watch can or usually is a expression of fashion and style, but character and personality is much more than that;-)

I agree that working environment will affect you. If you're working with high end clients, wearing eg Rolex will make the client think that you're on the same frequency with him/her.

Like what eojmil said, wearing a spongebob watch for an occasion.

Don't agree with the sentence. Ppl wear watches for different reasons and as seen by the replies above. Some are for work, for occassions, personal aspirations (or future aspirations) and also it differs when one is in a different stage in life.

I would add that it refleccts one's taste. And that taste is developed over time and depending on one's upbringing including environment, friends and family values. What one wears today or tomorrow only partly reflect at what point one is at the Maslow hierarchy. whether its expensive or cheap or kiddy, your personal tastes will still show up.

i believe that everyone don't just get a watch because of price or brand.

If the price is a bargain but doesn't suit your kind of style, would you get it?

Personally I like watches that are clean and neat, not complicated, just clock and date will do.

Like clothes, dress to the occasion or mood.
If scuba diving, would not wear a Lange 1 right?

now i swear i responded 20 mins ago and the message went missing and i thot it has embarrassingly went to some garage again...

i actually stopped wearing watches for 5+ years and came back with a vengeance. i wear them now becoz i feel good since i like the mechanics of the movements. who need watches to tell time when u carry a smartphone? (2 in my case). it is not abt showing off since not many people know a PAM from a brick (if u know what i mean). And when you wear a LOLex, ppl will ask if it is a copy watch. haiz.

Tend to disagree - a watch itself doesnt reflect the character/personality of a person
However, the behavior and the person's reactions to circumstances while owning the watch does tell about the person's character/personality

Eg when someone bump into your watch and cause a scuff, or you yourself caused a ding on the watch - how do you react - do you panick? or do you smile at the slight imperfection and continue to enjoy the watch?
Another eg: when someone lowball a watch you are trying to sell - do you ask the person to FO or politely reject the offer?

interestingly, has your answers changed after these years?

Was wondering if any of you here, when you purchase a particular brand/model, was affected by someone; either you like/love/admire; or detest/dislike/hate?

Example: Mr X wants to buy a ROLEX watch but can't decide which model to choose. His boss Mr Y wears a SD, and he hates his boss like hell (let's take it that his boss is a nasty person). Now, he is very unlikely to choose a SD, right (say he loves the sports range all the same; no particular strong feeling towards any)?

Has anyone here experienced this feeling? It can mean the other way round, i.e. instead of the -ve, you buy a watch because you like a particular person. Isn't that what the ads are all about, when watch companies used famous artistes/models to sell their watches?

                      Let's share.

Not really. Just buy and use what you like as long as you can afford it.

Found this article from WSJ: "What your watch says about you"

                          http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...984530196.html

I like clean faces, with a few numbers, not too thick, not too flashy. Love my EXP 1!
