Wearing steel Rolexes in Australia is safe. Just avoid solid gold full bracelet ones.

Usually I will wear cheaper watches when I'm traveling. At most a tissot.

no simple answers, I have seen quite a few Rolexes in KL and JB. Once I saw husband with a sub and wife with a new lady datejust in JB. Most important where are you going? If its a nice place like Pavilon in KL,you stay in a 5 star hotel, its nice to wear a classy watch. Just don't go to quiet corners and stay out late. If you are on a field trip, something simpler like Jap divers or mid mkt Swiss divers are good. If you intend to go night clubbing and enjoy the night life, its better to even go simpler like a quartz or G shocks. Where you stay is important. if there is a in roomsafe, then you can bring a nice one and a less ex one along!

I wear my Seiko orange monster to travel. its bright, its on a bracelet (so it can get wet etc), and I'm not gonna feel upset at all if it gets damaged or scratched.
its gone white water rafting with me, diving, swimming, sun tanning, jungle trekking etc.
