Got to say, the comfort and style Bally provides is somewhat unmatched in my books. Recently got a pair from Europe at a 50% discount off the normal retail price in Singapore.

there is something wrong with the way i walk so i wear out a shoe in roughly 6 months.
the bottom will be botak.
hence no point buying expensive shoes.
i look for those with soles that can last and last... especially rubber ones.
still haven't found a shoe with really lasting sole yet.. perhaps Michelin should start making shoes for me..

Instead of looking at Michelins, you should look at Goodyear...

Not the tyre company, but Goodyear welt constructed shoes... They're made to be resoled repeatedly...

I like those with very sharp & pointed tips but extremely hard to find & for those luxury brands,i noticed they don't make shoes of that design,

i think it's quite important to note that there are various ways different companies make a "goodyear welted" shoe... they are certainly not made equally. some use subpar materials or (cheaper) methods of construction that may not stand up to regular wear and perhaps not worth resoling.

also, even the best made shoes can sometimes be impossible to resole more than a half dozen times as each resole does damage the last/soles to an extent (restitching, etc). also, each shoemaker may employ a slightly different methods of resoling. finally, if your uppers are gone, then i would just buy a new pair of shoes. corrected grain? i would not waste my time even thinking about resoling it.

as for branded shoes... as someone mentioned, they are overpriced. many do not offer good value for your money. i prefer buying from specialist/traditional boot and shoemakers although the initial cost/wear is higher but the sums work out very nicely after the second or third factory recraft.

i'm still testing out the theory that shell cordovan is indestructible... my alden chukkas's uppers have stood up to wear quite well. the soles... not so much.
