    • A quick update....

Was at THG Taka this afternoon and the SE told me that the DBS/POSB 0% interest instalment promo got extended. But not for long... till mid of Feb, if I heard him correctly.

                • UOB instalment at THG

                  Hi bros,

Anyone know how the UOB instalments work with THG? Considering a Rolex and just want to compare between the UOB instalment and DBS instalment.

                  Many thanks!

                  • Aren't they the same? It should be interest-free across all CCs, except maybe different repayment periods. There may also be a difference when you decide later to make full payment before the repayment period ends. Normally, DBS/POSB do not charge a 'penalty fee' if you make full balance payment but most other do.

                    • Understand, just wondering why so many here excited about the DBS instalment plan at THG right now while the UOB one is all year round.

UOB does charge an early repayment fee though. Might be the reason why.

                      Thanks.

                      • Normally most banks will give repayment periods of 6, 12 and up to a max of 24 months. In the recent DBS/POSB flexi-payment plan promotion, due to its tie-up with the Hour Glass, it was extended to 32 months. So that was the "highlight".

                        • The uob installement is 12 and 24 mth interest free. Dbs/posb also 12 and 24 mth interest free. Both these installments r available all year long

The 32 mth dbs/posb interest free installment is only for limited period only. It was supposed to end on 31 jan 2012 but heard from some other forum kaki saying it has been extended to valentine's day, duno how true is it

To be honest, i was not aware of the all year long 12 and 24 installment from uob/dbs until i make the purchase. I was only interested in rolex a month ago after knowing about the dbs 32 mth installmet promotion. In the end i opt for 24 mth dbs installment for my milgauss. Since its interest free, y not take installment? But to me, 24 or 32 mths not much difference unless if u talking about >$50k purchase la.

for me, true joy of ownership can only be optimised when the item is paid in full.
so instalments for a low ticket item like a watch is a definite no-no.

                              • According to the mailer that I received with my c/card bill this month, the DBS/POSB credit card 0% interest instalment plan apparently is still on. Standard repayment over 6, 12 & 24 months and the participating outlets include:
                                • Dickson Watch & Jewellery
                                • Sincere Watch
