Anyway, anyone knows how much is the actual cost of using this new installment plan? I want to go down and check out with them siah..
I've stated that I haven't yet threaten them but I will very 'politely' request for fee waiver. If rejected, I'll request for immediate termination of the CC & make full payment. And there goes one customer.

There's no 'actual cost' on the installment plan. Just pay for what you buy and instruct the retailer on the length of repayment. No interest fee whatsoever.

shouldn't buy watches by installment....even if it's interest free. Unless you have no problem paying it off in one lump sum but just taking advantage of interest free payment. If otherwise, think twice...

                    • woah .. yorky, be patient pls ..

The Hour Glass (THG) carries Panerai watches but only at selected outlets. The Tangs outlet has one. I'm not sure about the rest but you can call and enquire. As on discount for PAM000, you will have to visit the shop to ask.

                      • my opinion on installment is that, it's fine if one knows that he can generate more returns in outside investments instead of tying up in cash upfront now.

For example if we know paying cash for a certain watch is $X and paying by CC installment will be additional 3-4%, we can choose to opt for CC installment IF we know that and we are conscientious enough to invest to get more than 4% returns.

It's about making good debts also but there's also a fine balance of not incurring too much debt as one might just be tricked into paying so much things on installments, then it becomes dangerous.

It's a fine line and i feel in certain scenarios it's justifiable provided one knows what one is doing..

Right. Buy or "Bet" too much using future money may be a risky, the future is always uncertain.

                          • To me is i rather the monthly installment deduct my credit cards ... I find that paying a lumpsum heart will pain. If deducting smaller portion will not be so pain even with interest charges or not ....

Lets say one has free cash or savings of 30-40k (not inclusive of assets or fixed deposits or gold or other investment), throwing 15-20 k cash into a watch is dangerous at this point of time since economy is not good ... and not forgetting car installments , condos, hdb, other stuffs to maintain .... if there is a big economy slump and what you have to do ? pawn the rolex at 75% of price you bought ? or the rolex can block the other payments ?

I am not making this matter too complicated ... got money i also can buy but is it worth throwing 1/4 - 1/2 of free cash into a watch at this moment ?

I am not rich however humbly i can buy one but i dun feel like paying one straight cash ....

Buying with CC even for 1 month - it is like a cash roll and help earns points ... which is great!

M/while anyone knows which THG sells 116610 LV ? Like to buy it without running around the shops ...

                            • Buy within individuals means, tat all I can say. Different ppl hv different mindset, as for mi I buy my Rolex mostly in cash n local AD knly, no instal unless that watch cost > 100K. If a Rolex is paid in full, is consider part of net worth otherwise to mi is consider a liability.
