battery or gas power.
depends on your playing environment... is noise an issue???
getting started, very dangerous man. can be like the black hole no budget F1 style with the top end cars and equipment.
allocate 10K can get u a very very nice set up with all the bells and whistles gear wise. and i mean everything from German made credit-card size microprocessor controlled chargers to the top end EU made R/C tools, Japanese Frequency hopping controllers with digital servos - every parameter including the frequency pulse of ABS application and braking/throttle curve can be adjusted! etc etc
there is lap timing gear also and micro cameras to mount also if youre into that
R/C....it's like Mini F1. poison deep deep!
who said carbon fiber, titanium and composites had to cost you 800k for a track car?
enjoy!

which is good, battery or run with petrol type?
start this hobby is relatively easy..depending on your budget lah..basic drift cars can get around 400+ without batteries and charger..good lipo batteries cost around 170-80 for 5000mah and charger around 200..
petrol car got sound so more realistic but quite messy because of gasoline etc..
depending on what you wanna play, if drifting must use electric..drifting will overheat gasoline engines..
nowadays lipo batteries also can last you 2 hours plus after an hour of charging..

with the GP - in the high end, you can adjust the clutch bite point and how it bites and also sometimes there is a 2 speed gearbox with a centrifugal clutch to be adjusted also.
if you are into Drift, GP is not for you.
for drift - you need high and instaneous torque at the wheels, sometimes at low speeds. the electric DC motor is the perfect piece of equipment as the principal of function is instant torque at any RPM. nitro engine does not have this characteristic.

have a friend with a Tamiya car + everything else.
near mint im told. his baby came along and now he does not have time now for it. he is asking ~ $700 for everything, car+transmetter+charger etc.
he paid 4 digit prices when it was new. so its a steal basically.
if you are interested, PM me, i put u in touch with him.
the other place to get bargains is:
