Is always this question when you sell or buy watches here in Singapore...
CONTROVERSIAL talk..
Oversea set ? cheaper ? i don't think so. In some countries i visited it is not cheap, But yet in certain countries like states, some westeren Europe italy or eastern Europe it is indeed cheaper with some bargainings and exchange rates plus higher Tax refunds.
Local set better ? not true. Try posting your watch for sale in international watch site like rolexforum and paneristi and you might get ppl ask you where the #FISH is this Hourglass, Sincere or Cortina?
Be it overseas or local sets.... do your research well and you will get good buys, even local AD and preowned shops prices varies too so do ask around first..You are the buyer so you have the rights to call individual shops to enquire, don't feel shy. Customers are first.
No straight rules governing local set or oversea set is #1.
Only rule of thumb, If you intend to sell later locally get a local set. If you want to sell oversea later get a oversea set cos ppl will throw back the same qn to you he does'nt want your local set too.
So now back to which country set is the best set?
My 2 cents for those particularly + particular buyer...
Get the watch from its origin makers together with the AD stamp on warranty card.
Tat is...Seiko and citizen from Japan, Aviator, buran, Vostok from Russia, Lange and Glashutte from Germany, Rolex Patek APs from Switzerland.
I'm never been fussy buying watches regardless from where it is stamped.
I only know all watches are covered by international warranty as long there is an AD selling that brand here.
Yes being a buyer you choose to buy a watch from where you want the AD from.
some are particular on scratches, some want only full sets, some go for straps conditions, some emphasize on AD and some no millesimation of 4444.
So answer to this thread is no right or wrong, just mind or don't mind.
