  • Forum project watch

All the forums are doing it...

I'm sure some of us have the contacts to go about it... but would anyone be interested in creating a forum project watch.... of a limited number and edition for the members...

Could be a modded seiko with a special design dial... etc...

    What do you guys think?

Erm I note that it is a rolex-centric forum la, but I am afraid the first project would be something less adventurous.

I am thinking Japanese/russian sources, maybe germany... (or good chinese - if there is such a thing)

Lets see what the rest of the guys have to say

I think he means...a watch specially for this forum. LIke we print SG-ROC on the watch liddat...kinda like our own "brand"

actually it's possible to do i think....but usually it's done with cheap cheap watches, they get like some china watch then print the company logo there then give out as freebies

I quite like the idea. I was thinking, instead of one watch, do you think a "hommage" of the Rolex models would be attractive as a set? All with the SG-ROC club name printed?

Like a set of a GMT, a Diving Watch, a chronograph (the sports series)
And one of the dress series .. 4 watches as a set? All numbered?

              Too extreme??

Then ROLEX hommage watches shld be appropriate, since this is SG-ROC, right? And I hv just the right lobang if u guys confirmed tis project.

Wow, you guys are actually picking up on the idea

A word of caution tho... Rolex homages or homages of any sort must be done carefully and tastefully to avoid issues with being branded as fakes, or even worse being sued for passing off.. That is in fact one of the main reason why RXW is no longer making their MM watches.

I am thinking that if we intend to go ahead with this project, we should take some time to think about the design...

Cost is another issue.... Obviously the more number of pieces we make the cheaper the watch would be... In a similar way, the more stock items (cases, hands, dials) we use, the cheaper it gets...

I would not recommend doing so many at a shot... Perhaps one a year at most... let it be properly designed and well done...
