My boss has several Rolex watches but he doesn't wear them to work. So when I have meetings with him I also don't wear... Must be humble in front of boss...

My boss wear a Omega Constellation, nice watch. I don't wear gold watch to work only omega or at most rollies but sometimes we talk abt watches, his group of friends wear IWC, Lange PP and stuff like that but his an average watch guy and have no issue with the red eye thing. I believe it"s very individual.

The best boss I ever worked for (he is a senior manager in a foreign bank) wears a Seiko for work and Casio for play.

My uncle was a director at IME before he decided to retire. During his entire professional career, he only ever wore a $25 Casio digital watch and drove a Nissan Sunny. When he had 3 kids, he 'upgraded' to a Toyota Camry.

His words were, "A watch is to tell the time and a car is to get me from point A to point B. A $25 Casio will do the job just as well as a $25,000 Rolex. If anything, it's lighter, more comfortable, and I don't have to worry about damaging it."

He retired at 45, bought 2 properties in Perth and migrated there with his wife and 3 children, while his 3 other properties and share ownership in businesses in Singapore generate enough net income to put most of our salaries to shame.

my ex-boss (an european) wears a fake omega seamaster...he's proud of his watch because it's served him well. And, i'm proud of him because he's honest/open about wearing a replica (we'd a good laugh over it). I respect him more for his capability, character and leadership. A watch doesn't define a man anyway.

well i heard of that like a million times. But I also found out they spend on other things e.g. trip with family to overseas (every year), houses, mistress (don't jealous), other hobbies, gold bars. And some ppl just like to see those figures in the bank, they like money more than anything else. I believe every individual has their preferences, it's just where they put it and where they think it's worth/not worth.

I have known people who enjoy life everyday and has very little in their bank and died. I have also known people who has a million in their bank but never enjoy his life and died. How you wanna spend your life, you decide, as end of the day, you have to be happy about it, not anyone else.

I have moved from designer's clothes to Hi-Fi to Cars to electronics gadget and now to watches I buy and sell along the path, make some money and lost some too. You never actually 'earn'/make a living with your hobby, you enjoy doing it.

I agreed, in most cases you won't make money from hobbies but you do get to enjoy the process of it ... That's what hobbies are meant to be
