I believe somehow or another, people would still get from AD. Some people just enjoy the feeling of getting their beloved piece from AD, 'boutique experience/service', a peace of mind as well as financial package e.g. instalment plans.

I agree with LCChye, think buying from AD is more straight forward for those (including myself). But after reading up on the forums, I'm slowly inching away from purchasing at ADs. I'm still looking around though.
Instalment plan I think I read somewhere else in this forum, we'll be at the mercy of the banks when it comes to annual fee. Credit card points I think there isn't any difference between paying one shot and via instalment? Coz afterall the final amount is the same.

for practicality reasons i prefer 2nd hand as i like to collect old watches and the value appraises with time.

I would recommend getting pre-owned. getting a watch is like buying a car, the moment u step out of the store, your watch price will be slashed by at least $2k and you probably havent even worn it.
