I feel we should give the guy a chance, he is only 18 years old. Immature in thinking and led astray by others. We should be more tolerant as a society as a whole and not be sick murderers.

There is a buddhist saying: 救人一命胜造七级浮屠, when you save life you commit a great path to nirvana.

He's just a kid not some hard headed criminal.
    "夫君子之行:静以修身,俭以养德;非淡泊无以明志,非宁静无以致远。" - 诸葛亮

One should seek serenity to cultivate the body, thriftiness to cultivate the morals. Seeking fame and wealth will not lead to noble ideal. Only by seeking serenity will one reach far. - Zhugeliang

Here is answer from Miss Jamaica: Yendi Phillips (First Runner-up of Miss Universe 2010)

"Good Evening, Las Vegas. Good Evening, judges. I believe that life is a gift, a gift given by only one ultimate Creator and I believe that none of us as humans have the right to take a life. And I believe that we as mere beings of the earth have no right to control what it is that only one person can control and that is God. Thank you."

haha that is y is she is Miss Jamaica, she gives a good answer but i will have to disagree on this as she is not right. No doubt we are not god but i rather be the human to take away that 1 individual's life then let him take away more than 1 human's life because of his actions

have to agree u on a certain extent. he is really young and not a hardcore criminal. but is there a guarantee he wont do it again? will not mind if he is really given a pardon but in future got similar cases, how?

On seeing this video is indeed heart-saddening.
            http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/08/a-familys-plea/

Anyone with compassion will melt one's heart.

Indeed, young and naive will be led astray, the authorities should go after the mastermind instead of getting this poor scapegoat. Crushing down the mastermind behind the scenes will save more similar boys from being used.

Should uproot the root of evil!

              yong

although young, that guy is still a drug trafficker bringing harm to others for his own profit. that to me..not a scape goat. what makes you guys think it was his first time?? isit not for easy money that drove him to traffic?? he knows the law and chose to challenge it..sympathise, yes.. i'm not saying he does not deserve a pardon..anyway, its out of our hands..but we should stop painting a picture of how young and innocent he is.

also, its not just about the amount of drugs he brought in. you guys have to look at the bigger picture..its not jus about the drugs, robbers, snatch theft, robbing of the elderly, getting high and committing rape, getting into fights etc these are jus some other social problems that the govt have to consider. its a fact that the above mentioned crimes have some been linked to drug addicts

for those who have a good life (enjoying your beautiful timepieces) you will hardly or never see what life those people go through, jus becos the drug problem is somewat contolled in Singapore, we should not get complacent and tink its time to start sounding like angels..

              my 2 cents..

Total agreed we should uproot the evils of the mastermind drug lords. Otherwise more young and naive scapegoat lifes will be lost. Think again who is fighting the losing war on this.

I agree too. To be compassion is not just about pardoning people....it's also about upholding the system that would result in a greater good for all in the society.
The rules are clear and it is important for the gatekeepers to guide it else the system is at risk of failing. Thus, president's pardon is not something that should be used frequently. Every time it is used, it is actually a slap on the judicial judgement.

i thnk at 18, he shld already know the consequences. The fact that he wants to try, means he know what he is heading for, but deliberately wanna challenge the system in the hope for fast money.

now when caught, cry father cry mother. whats the point? if he wasnt caught he might be laffing at the system liaoz. I think unless hes still like 7-10 yrs old with no knowledge of right and wrong, then probably still pardonable as he is being made used of. in this case, he chose the road. so face the consequence.

I will be very disappointed with the Singapore judicial system if this guy is pardoned. He is a monster in the making, if he's ever let loose, our society and future generations will be in danger. Dun let this happen!!! Quick! Get the noose ready!!
