Death penalty in sg must stay. That y sg is still a safe place because of its tough laws. No doubt it a bit cruel to have the death sentence but it better to send them to lock them up for so many yrs. The prison will be overcrowded and much resources will be needed for that. Not meant to be mean, but if u do really bad stuffs like murder or traffick drugs, i think u r useless in society. No need waste rice to keep u alive. Unless can be proven that guy is been make use of By others to traffick drugs or else no excuse. Just my thoughts though.

Although I am not a Singaporean nor a PR holder, if he is granted a stay from the rope then there should be 1 stipulation. His family pays for all of the states housing, food, water, and any prisoner upkeep for this fellow. If the family refuses to pay, the death sentence is iimposed.

Why should the State suffer financially for 1 person's idiocy?

On one hand, citizens talk about gov't blowouts; but on the other certain citizens are willing to spend money to clothe, feed, shelter crims. Can't have your cake and eat too!

wanted to add to previous post, but not allowed.
Maybe can make those inmates who r going to spend the whole life inside the prison to work there in order to feed themselves?

If i was in charge of the legal system, I would chop one leg, one arm. Whilst death is a major deterrent, you should understand that death by hanging is relatively quick. By increasing the suffering; you create a greater deterrent. Making a "human" (if they are called that), walk, and eat like a dog is the worst type of punishment anyone can endure.

I hope our current President can pardon him. He has yet to grant one during his term.

His life is worth NOTHING compared to the sufferings of the drug addicts and their families and all the related cost to the society ills. He MUST go! I have seen how devastating drugs can do to a person and to the community during my days as a NS policeman. Man!! You wouldnt believe me till you see it with your OWN EYES.

I agree, I lived in BKK for 3 years before moving to Jakarta in 1990, it was sad to see my friends seek to new lows when getting involved with harder and harder drugs. It was one of the main reasons fo me moving away from Thailand.

Yes, i agree that death by hanging is the quickest way to punish someone who had did something seriously wrong but no one here is ever in their shoes to understand what they want. they don't only live for themselves, they still have family members and relatives who will be the one who suffer after one is hanged and paid for what one have did wrong.

I believe that you will never be able to force a cow to drink water by pushing his head down if the cow don't wanna drink. It takes two hands to clap.

Anyway all the posting that i have said is just only my point of view.
                        Cheers.

After reading the article serveral times. The whole damn issue is, our President is actually "handicap" (powerless) and the pardon doesnt come directly from him........ the team behind him are the ones who is in-charge.

The same can be said for those who have to suffer from losing loved ones from drugs. I tend to say, you dig the grave that you lie in. Make no excuses.

18 may be young to die by such a tragic end, but I am sorry, if he is off the hook, the system will be tainted and more runners will surface. The world is not as ideal as we hope. It is almost impossible to catch the druglords. We can only slow them down by clipping their wings (runners).

18 may be young and immature, but I still think you still have a brain to think. I hope we can educate our kids using this example, our kids need to know this: We must be responsible for each and every of our decision.

Sadly, sometimes the right decision is a hard decision.
