Perhaps it all boils down to simple economics? Demand vs supply? So long as there are other locals who are willing to pay premium to the ADs here, this practise will surely continue...

I am also on the same boat as pet and s.c... I simply won't pay the premium local ADs are asking.
Time is too precious to be measured by a cheap watch...

I suppose 116520 would be an exception in that ADs all over the world are asking for premium. Demand (or perceived one at that) seems to far outstrip the supply (controlled by AD or Rolex? or both?!)... Having said that, I will still not buy 116520 from local ADs as they are simply asking for too much premium.

            maybe supply little.
anyway, overseas, these pcs usually end up in traders' hand ( except sg .. AD asking for premium ) ...

i also refuse to pay premium. Rather wait, or buy preowned at a sensible price.

I still go and try to claim, as it is not the money, rather if everyone claim, it *may* tell the gov't to simplify the tourist refund program.

Once i buy a watch S$1k, pay S$70 in GST, by the time i get back, not enough to do anything . I do hope your ignorant gov't can look at Ozzie refund system and implement in SG. Even better, JP system also good.

sg gov is the bao ka leow...also kiasu... would rather hand over to a 3rd party to do this gst refund thn a retailer-tourist direct refund. i find the jp system so easy easy, the refund is either at POS or their customer service, tht's almost immediate.

jp system is the best, but open to abuse, so maybe your kiasu gov't wont implement.

last time my mom buy diamond claim 100% of the GST from airport. Almost make it worth while to buy in Oz and take out.

this is call .... kwa boey kiu (see no open).

how many 1 to abuse, if there's few hundred or even thosand of cases, it's just a very very small percentage. but help tourists and also retailers in easier administration.

Was at THG at Lucky Plaza yday... Wanted to take a look at the New Deepsea, was told it was sold, at a premium of 17k... Was also told that the watch case size is abt that of a panerai, but the bracelet is narrower than my TT GMT IIc. Sound like a big head small body watch....
